The 1000 watt light was developed to be used in larger cages where several 400 watt lights would be required. This reduces clutter in the cages and ensures light penetration in deeper nets.

Used underwater in cages or tanks maximises the effect of photo period manipulation to increase growth and reduce maturation. The Sublite is unique in using control gear that fires the lamp from the surface. Should the lamp unit get damaged then it is recoverable as the electronics, a large part of the cost, is housed in a waterproof enclosure on the handrail. Research over the last two years has identified the light spectrum from the metal halide lamp in the Sublite to have the maximum effect on growth and maturation control. Systems can be configured to meet the requirements of individual sites and supplied as complete packages to include switchgear and cables.
