With the recent move of our UK office from Aberdeenshire to Nairn, near Inverness we have employed the services of Ian Lawson. As our Service Manager, Ian will work alongside Dave Thorburn, our UK Division Manager. Dave has over 20 years experience in the aquaculture industry. Ian, although relatively new to aquaculture, has a wealth of experience in the electrical and electronic engineering sector. oooOooo Visit us on Stand C18 at this years Aquaculture 2006 to be held in the SECC Glasgow from the 17th - 19th May. oooOooo Trials on the use of low power fixed wavelength lighting are being carried out in over 30 sites in UK and Norway with both salmon and cod. Scientific testing is being carried out by both Stirling University and the Marine Institute in Bergen. It is estimated that power savings of 50 - 80% can be achieved by using this new method of lighting. It also uses lower and safer voltages and has at least an estimated 15 year life compared with standard metal halide of 3 years in normal operation.
